Birthday Blossom

I was recently asked to make a special birthday card for a lady's 60th and today I wanted to share what I made.  I didn't want to do a card with 60 on it as I wasn't sure this would be appreciated :)  I decided to use Build a Blossom.  This is rapidly becoming a favourite as with the co-ordinating punch it makes really impressive flowers incredibly easy to assemble.

I am still having problems with my laptop and can only get online at limited times, but I just wanted to remind you all about the monthly scrapbook club that takes place on the first Tuesday of every month.  Click on the classes and clubs tab at the top of the page for more deatails.  Also I am really looking forward to the owl punch class I am running on saturday!  I will share the results as soon as I can next week.  If you'd like to come along to one of these workshops get in touch to reserve your space.

TECHNICAL ERRORS

I'm having major issues with my computer at the moment.  I don't know how long it's going to be but please bear with me.  Hopefully I can grab some access at friends and family but I am able to post to facebook using my mobile phone so check out my facebook page Stampin' with Vicky

I'm back with NEW monthly class details!

Well I haven't really been anywhere but I had a really nasty case of tonsillitis which really knocked me for six and I only really recovered last Sunday.  Now it's half term so I'm busy with very important things like Lego and Power Rangers!  I just wanted to pop on and let you all know that I've not disappeared and for those of you who have asked yes I'm fine just need to get back into the swing of things :)

I wanted to share with you details of my new monthly classes, these will be running on the last Saturday of every month at my house in Northampton.  Check out the Clubs and Classes tab at the top of the page for full details.  The first one - Punch Art with the Owl Punch, is proving very popular so if you want to reserve your place please let me know ASAP.  Sneaky peek pics will be ready next week too so come back and check them out!

Also a reminder about Monday night craft club sessions.  These are going really well and I LOVE sharing my crafting.  I currently have 2 spaces available, sessions are every Monday from 7.30 - 9.30pm and cost £6.50 again check out the Clubs and Classes tab for more details and get in touch to reserve your space.

Due to technical issues (well I can't find my camera lead!) I can't share the picture that I wanted to today but here is the card we did 2 Mondays ago.  We used two of my favourite sets Butterfly Prints and Flight of the Butterfly along with the co-ordinating punch.  Believe it or not the whole card is made using white cardstock - I've used a range of sponging techniques to add colour and depth.  It just goes to show that you can start card making with a very small amount of product.

I'll be back soon with details of the AMAZING offers for June and July!

Exciting news!!!!!!!

My lovely downline Georgina and I have been busy organising and I'm excited to announce that details of our new monthly scrapbooking class our now up on the Clubs and Classes tab at the top of the page, check it out and get in touch if you want to come along!

I've had a lovely couple of weeks enjoying the sunshine and having hubby and my gorgeous little boy home but now it is well and truly back to business.  Monday's classes are still going and if you'd like to find out more or reserve a place get in touch I'd love to meet you :)

For now I'd like to share the card that we made on Monday night, it's based on one I showed you a few weeks ago that I made with my upline but tweaked a little as I didn't have all the products she used so I did what I could and added a little from my stash.

Here it is in another colour combo - gotta love that gorgeous deep Elegant Eggplant.

I'm really getting to like distressing now and have more to show you soon.  This card uses a couple of distressing techniques.  I've well and truly scrunched, screwed and squished the scallop circles and leaf pieces then sponged the edges by flicking the sponge over the edge of the card.  I then patted the ink pad over the top - this just catches the ink onto the creases that you have made.  On the backing piece and the base caed itself I've sponged the edges but this time kept the card flat on the table and used circular movements to pull the colour in slowly building it up.   The ribbon is actually the Whisper White Organza ribbon, I've used Crumb Cake ink and pulled  the ribbon across the inkpad to add colour, I then let it dry before ruffling it by sitcking it over a piece of sticky strip.

Doesn't time fly?

I really don't know where this week has gone! It seems like only yesterday I was posting last.  I've not had much time for crafting as it's the school holidays.  Hubby is home too (he's a teacher) so we've had some nice days out.  By the time we get home sort dinners, baths and bedtime I'm wiped out!  To be honest I'm kinda feeling that way now :)  We've had a lovely day in the sunshine at Barnwell Country Park, I'd highly recommend it - Thomas and Daisy both enjoyed the play area too!

Right, onto the crafting that I have been doing.  Last night my weekly craft club ladies met.  I'd decided that I wanted to do a bit of heat embossing but am not actually sure that this card shows it at it's best.  Will have to spend some time googling for more inspiration for another week.

This card is based on a sketch I made while browsing around the net a few weeks ago, I forgot to make a note of who to credit so if you think it's you let me know and I'll happily link to your blog. The flowers have been clear embossed and then cut out and mounted onto dimensionals for some added texture.  I also had a bit of a 'blooper' moment when I decided midway through that one of the stamps was mounted wonky and needed re-mounting.  Only I well and truly bodged it so I very quickly came up with another option for the inside of the cards, in the end it came out really well - oops I didn't get pictures :)

That's all for now, I'm going to try and get some posts scheduled as we are away visiting family over hte Easter weekend but I have loads to show you from some recent Stampin' Up! events I've attended.  If I don't manage it have a fantastic Easter!

Club cards week 2

We made two cards this week.  I wanted to show how you can use the inkpads for water colouring so kept the cards simple.  These pictures show the first of the two cards.  I used circle punches to create the window and frame.  I kept the water colouring on this card quite flat to show the difference you can achieve, the second card is much more shaded.  The stamp set is A Flower for All Seasons.

The second card, I did two layouts just by switching the orientation.  Excuse the shadows, I didn't notice them when I took the pictures!

Heere's a close up of the image, I've built up the colour and shaded the outline.  I am by no means an artist but I find this technique really forgiving especially if you use watercolour paper.  I've added a mat for the image using the same size punch and cutting it in half then layering on the back.  I also tore the DSP strip to add a little bit more interest.

If you live in or near Northampton and would like to come along to classes get in touch by clicking on the contact me tab at the top of the page.
